Mark Holland: Canadian Politician and Family Man
Early Life and Career
Mark Holland was born on October 16, 1974, in Ottawa, Ontario. He attended the University of Ottawa and received a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science in 1998. After graduating, Holland worked as an aide to former Liberal MPs Sheila Copps and John McKay.
Political Career
Holland entered politics in 2008 when he was elected to the Ontario Liberal Party. He served as a Member of Provincial Parliament (MPP) from 2008 to 2013 and held various cabinet positions, including Minister of Transportation and Infrastructure and Minister of Economic Development and Trade.
In the 2013 federal election, Holland was elected to the House of Commons as the Liberal MP for Ajax. He was re-elected in 2015, 2019, and 2021.
Minister of Health
On July 26, 2023, Holland was appointed Minister of Health by Prime Minister Justin Trudeau. In this role, he is responsible for overseeing Canada's healthcare system and addressing key issues such as access to healthcare, mental health, and drug policy.
Personal Life
Holland is married to Cindy Fournier, a former provincial Liberal candidate. They have one son. Holland is also an avid runner and a member of the Full Moon Yoga Society.
